Our pharmacists are always available to ensure that our patients know the name of their medication, why they are taking it, how an when to take it and any potential adverse effects. We encourage patients to ask questions and share their concerns about their medications.
We are proud to be a member of the PCCA (Professional Compounding Centres of America), and we compound many specialized medications such as dermatological creams, drug products that have been discontinued by drug manufacturers, transdermal natural hormone replacement, and liquid oral infant medications for our customers.
To meet the needs of our many and varied clientele we utilize a variety of packaging systems. For our patients who are institutionalized, we use a specially developed dosage system complete with medication cart and computerized drug record reports. We welcome enquiries from Nursing Homes, Homes for the Aged, Seniors' facilities, group homes and the like.
For our patients who are having some difficulty managing their medications we have a simple solution. We offer a controlled dosage system that packages their medications together according to the time they are to be taken rather than in separate vials. This system helps many senior citizens to maintain their lifestyle and stay in their own homes longer. Residents of group homes also find this system easy to manage.
Our pharmacists are trained and experienced in both treating and supporting the needs of many different groups of patients. Whether it be the questions of the first time mother, the newly diagnosed diabetic, a smoker looking for the right smoking cessation program, someone with high blood pressure, or the special needs of the HIV/AIDS patient; we are ready and able to answer the many questions and concerns. We also specialize in asthma care and heart health. Our extensive library of textbooks, journals, and pamphlets provide us with useful tools that help us meet your needs. Our patients are welcome to ask questions at any time or arrange a free initial consultation with one of our pharmacists in our private consulting area.
We run weekly medication management program, and host regular Pharmasave Live Well Clinics where the public can learn about their individual health issues in a private setting with one of our pharmacists. These clinics help identify health risks and assist with developing an action plan to good healthy habits. Several times yearly, we give health presentations in the community. These are given to local church groups, retirees' groups or various other organizations. Often we focus on assisting members of the community in the promotion of healthy habits or on effectively accessing the Ontario health care system. We are starting a Walking Club to promote a healthy lifestyle.
We support the Rouge Valley Centenary Health Centre's breast feeding clinic by compounding a special antifungal / anti-inflammatory breast cream.
Our pharmacy was proud to participate in the Ontario pilot project for the provision of emergency contraception by a pharmacist. This project enjoyed great success and increased the availability of the morning after pill for women in the community.
We our especially proud that our professionally trained staff provide pharmaceutical expertise to many allied health professionals. We are always available to answer questions or make recommendations about drug use, drug interactions, potential adverse effects, formulary coverage or any other problem. We are regularly called upon by local physicians, home visit nurses, the Community Heath and Social Services Centre and by the medical clinic that adjoins our own facilities.
